If you knew that spending less time in the sun, wearing sunscreen and protective clothing, and avoiding tanning beds would reduce your risk of skin cancer, would you seek shade, slather on sunscreen and get your tan from a bottle?

Creating awareness about these simple changes that can save lives is one goal of the American Academy of Dermatology’s SPOT Skin Cancer™ initiative, and it’s why we remain committed to AAD’s "Skin Cancer, Take a Hike!"  Support our efforts by clicking DONATE NOW and make a donation.

Your participation or donation will help the AAD:

  • provide free skin cancer screenings for more people across the country,
  • offer free resources to help teach kids and others how to protect their skin,
  • build permanent shade for outdoor community and play areas, and more.

It is currently estimated that one in five Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime. Not only is skin cancer preventable, it is highly treatable when caught early. Yet, sadly, one American dies from melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, almost every hour.

You can help save lives! Our goal is a world without skin cancer…and we need your help to get there.
